This is a rare indigo-dyed votive flag from the 14th year of Edo period culture. Width 33.5cm x total length 5m. This is the size of the cloth itself. There is a tear in one place.
Held at each end by wooden dowels and decorated with hand woven grass tassels. A wonderful example of Japanese folk crafts and culture from this period
It is a valuable item that is over 200 years old but fabric is strong and can be reused.
